STANDING IN THE GAP FOR THE CHURCH

Forty days of focussed prayer and fasting 20 June – 29 July

FAITH FOR A CHURCH, FAITH FOR A CITY

2 Chronicles 7:14 If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Eph:20-23 All this energy issues from Christ; God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything. At the center of all this, Christ rules the church. The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ's body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence.

Devotion - Day 14

The Priority of Prayer

1 Tim 2:1-4

First of all, then, I exhort that supplications (Petitions), prayers (Requests), intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who will have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

The first thing I want you to do is pray.
Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. (MSG)

Paul writes to his young prodigy Timothy and he exhorts him to make prayer a priority and in praying he needs to pray for:
* Those in authority – so that we might live on peace and
* For all men to be saved – as that is the will of God.

Thank you for taking some extra time out today to pray. If all you do is pray for the following two things you have done well!
* leaders - that they may walk in humility and the Fear of God and
* for men and women to come to know Christ
