STANDING IN THE GAP FOR THE CHURCH

Forty days of focussed prayer and fasting 20 June – 29 July

FAITH FOR A CHURCH, FAITH FOR A CITY

2 Chronicles 7:14 If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Eph:20-23 All this energy issues from Christ; God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything. At the center of all this, Christ rules the church. The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ's body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence.

Devotion - Day 30

Increasing your Faith

Heb 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Seven Steps to Greater Faith

1. Recognize your own helplessness and need (humility).
Helplessness is the first step in the ladder of faith. Faith requires you to take the initiative. A sense of helplessness, impotence and total dependence on God enables you to take the initiative, the first step of faith.

2. Feed your soul on the Word of God
Rom 10:17 ‘Faith comes by hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of God’
Col 3:16 ‘Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly’
The more you read God’s Word the more your faith grows.

3. Spend adequate time in prayer
All forms of prayer help strengthen faith. Intercession for others, prayer warfare, time communing with God and praising Him in prayer are all great helps in increasing faith.

4. Read accounts of how God has answered prayer
The biographies of people who were great examples of faith are a strong stimulus to faith.

5. Obey God in everything
You cannot trust God fully if you are not living up to the light you already have or fully obeying the revelation or understanding you have.

6. Begin to trust God for specific answers
The more you exercise your faith, the more it will grow. Some have compared faith to a muscle. The more you exercise it, the stronger it becomes.

7. Begin praising God
God deserves our praise and always draws near as we praise Him
