Devotion - Day 20
Doing and Praying
“No amount of activity in the King’s service can make up for the King Himself” Duncan Campbell
“Do more than pray but only after you have prayed. You cannot do more than pray until you have prayed” S D Gordon
Gordon goes on to explain that in prayer we gain the victory, strike the winning blow and in our Christian work of service or ministry we gather up the results.
In our approach to prayer we cannot be fatalistic. We cannot have the attitude of que sera, sera - what will be will be, that everything is fixed. In prayer we can make a difference. Create with God.
‘God does nothing on earth save in answer to believing prayer’ John Wesley
That is something we can loose some sleep over.
Psalm 27:4
One thing I have desired from the Lord, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of Jehovah and to pray in His temple.
Mat 5:16
Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.
