Devotion - Day 25
Resist the Enemy
Intercession by definition is ‘praying for the needs of others’. Intercession is also seen as ‘standing in the gap’. Standing in the gap between God and the object of our prayers in order to ‘grant a blessing’. The other gap we stand in is between the enemy and the object of our prayer in order to guard and protect.
1. The Battle is real but it is not a physical war it is a spiritual one. Eph 6:12
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
2. We are equipped for the battle with weapons and armour. Eph 6:13-18
Therefore take to yourselves the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Therefore stand, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, take the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, praying always with all prayers and supplication in the Spirit, and watching to this very thing with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
3. We have authority as we submit to Jesus James 4:7
Therefore submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
4. We are overcomers.
Rom 5:17 much more they who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One, Jesus Christ.
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony. And they did not love their soul until death.
Let us be aware of the enemy but not impressed with him. We are only impressed with Jesus.
