Devotion - Day 13
STANDING IN THE GAP
Psalm 106:23 (various translations)
And He said that He would destroy them, if Moses His chosen had not stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath, so that He should not destroy them.
You were angry and started to destroy them, but Moses, your chosen leader, begged you not to do it.
Fed up, God decided to get rid of them-- and except for Moses, his chosen, he would have. But Moses stood in the gap and deflected God's anger, prevented it from destroying them utterly.
The primary role of an Intercessor is to ‘stand in the gap’ in a priestly role.
* Between God and the object of our intercession to bless. On behalf of God and in the name of Jesus we speak grant blessing and speak life.
* Between the enemy and the object of our intercession to guard and protect. In the name of Jesus we drive back the enemy and appropriate the victory established in Christ Jesus.
An Intercessor also identifies with the object of his prayers in that he does not point fingers, judge, or criticize but pleads for mercy and grace on behalf.
PRAYING FOR:
* The spheres of influence of Society
* The transformation of the City
* People come to know Christ. To discover their Identity and Destiny in Him
* Doxa Deo as a church to reflect the Glory of God
1 comment:
By standing in the gap for others, we reflect the character of Jesus, who stood in the gap for us.
